A Vascular Doctor is an eye doctor that specializes in the field of vision care. Most commonly, Vascular physicians are involved in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, meniere’s disease, and eye cancer. They may perform any one of these three; however, their specialty area usually revolves around one of these three fields. This way, when patients see their doctor for any reason, they know exactly what to expect. Go to these guys Center for Vascular Medicine – Union – Newark Vascular Doctor
For example, a vascular doctor might treat a patient with diabetes who suffer from peripheral retinal disease – also known as diabetic retinopathy – and whose vision has become dimpled and is experiencing blurry vision. In this case, the patient would be seen for glaucoma, cataracts surgery, laser surgery, or reconstruction following a severe eye injury. If the patient were to undergo a routine exam and undergo surgery without any of these modalities, the outcome might be less favorable and thus, more difficult to treat.
Another example is that a vascular doctor may treat a patient with heart disease and end up treating the symptoms, rather than addressing the underlying cause of the disease. For instance, if a person develops severe gout and tries to treat it with diet and exercise, without addressing the blood vessels that cause the gout, then gout could return. Often times, the first course of treatment for heart disease is an anti-inflammatory medication to reduce the swelling in the arteries, such as aspirin, which does not prevent the buildup of oxalate crystals within the arteries, which is the precursor to atherosclerosis, the condition that causes the plaque that leads to the formation of blood clots. Therefore, the typical treatment of a heart disease patient will typically include medications that do not address the causes of the disease, such as anti-inflammatory medication and drugs that prevent the formation of new clots within the arteries.
